Okay, so I screwed up. I went and posted that my hair was pink a week ago. My red hair dye had faded to the point where it was a bright magenta. It looked really funny on me. I posted about it just before on spring break. Everything was so hectic before we left, didn't get a chance to take & post pictures. Then I spent the entire week in the cities with Amanda's family, where I went back to the stone age. Her family doesn't have internet!!! So, I'm back at school now, & while it's not as cool as before I left, here are some pics for you guys. I'm going to be touching up the red this week, so maybe it'll fade the same way & I can get pictures when it's that bright pint again. These aren't quite as impressive, but here ya go:

And yes. Just in case your curious or you think that your eye decieve you, I do have a blonde spot on the left side of my part. It sounds funny, & it may not look that good in these shots, but it's really cute.

Subject:WOW! Somebody cares!!! I feel loved. :D
Time:8:26 pm.
Mood: giddy.
Music:Numa Numa song.
Okay, so Neight asks me what am I doing if I'm not coming home? Neigh, I'm glad you asked! Now I have an excuse to brag & rant. :D

So I was invited to an informational meeting for an internship for this summer. I went to the meeting on Monday, just curious about what it was, but I didn't expect anything because I heard the program was really selective. So, I went to the meeting, I stayed 'till the end and asked one of the women questions afterward. Well, she started to ask questions back. Long story, short: THEY HIRED ME RIGHT THERE AND THEN! I was so giddy after that! Here's why: The company that I'll be working for is called Southwestern; they're a publishing company. Basically, what it is is that after finals I'll be going to Nashville for a week for business training, where I'll learn how to run and manage my own small business. Then, they move us out to the East Coast where we'll be staying with families and selling Southwestern's products door-to-door. Their products are educational books and student study guides. We'll be selling to schools and middle- to upper-class family districts. And I know! I know! Selling stuff door-to-door is going to suck, but this is the great part: The average student makes $8500 their first summer selling!!! That's like 2-3 years of annual income for me!!! And that's if you don't even work that hard. I've been meeting with my trainer all week, and she says that if I work hard and visit 30 families a day (which will be easier than it sounds) then I'll probably make $10,000-$12,000, easy! Some of the top sellers have made almost $30,000!!!! I'll also be earning three college business credits with my training in Nashville, TN.

While I am giving up going home for the summer, this pretty much sets me up. If I were to go back to Oregon for the summer, I have no idea where I'd stay or if I would get hired anywhere. With this, I have work, food, and a place to stay, and I'll be earning more money than I could doing anything else. This is such an awesome opportunity that even if the work kinda sucks, I'll be able to earn as much money as I work for. The harder I work, the more I'll make. I think that it goes without saying that I'll be working damn hard this summer. :D

Okay, Part II:
I'm also not coming home next year. Transfering to another school isn't working out. No one is giving me a dependency waiver for my FAFSA, which means if I were to go back to Oregon, even with in-state tuition, it would still be cheaper for me to stay here.

Besides, things are finally starting to fall into place here. Granted, Fargo sucks! But Amanda (my new roommate) and I are getting along so well! I've made a ton of friends here, and I really feel like part of the group here. They're always happy to see me, and they always seem to want me around. That's such a nice feeling. I don't want to leave Amanda, nor my other friends. And while I really want to see you all, many of you aren't in Oregon anymore and everyone else still has school and work. Even if I went home, I'd still rarely ever get to see any of you. At least here I'm still included, and I don't get lonely.

But that's not the end of my reasons... Well, it's hard to explain, but a lot has happened to me here. Especially, in the last month (I think it has a lot to do with Amanda). I've changed, and I'm finally starting to become that person I always wanted to be. The other day, Geoff, Amanda's boyfriend (& my "other roommate"), told me that he couldn't believe that I was ever manic depressant or bitchy. He said that I was always so happy and smiling. I was blown away, guys! I mean, he said that about me!!! Me!!! I feel like I've been sent here for a reason, and I don't think I'm finished yet. I don't think I'll be finished by May either. Amanda and I are applying for an appartment next year, but we picked out a room in one of the high-rises just in case we don't get it. We're so excited about living together, and I'm actually really excited about staying here. I think that I'll end up at least finishing my undergrad school for Vet Med here. Then I'll try applying to other schools again. By then, I'll be 23, and I won't need parental information anymore.

Anyway, sorry for the uber-post, but like I said, a lot has happened. The great part is that what I've told you here isn't half of it. ;) Hopefully, I'll still be staying in touch with all of you over the summer and such. All things will work out in the end. They've been working out pretty darn well thus far.

Time:10:27 pm.
Mood: awake.
Music:Numa Numa Song.
Okay, so I was trying to explain to Amanda the tiers of Love Hate Doom & I realized that not only do I not know the rules or illustrations for that game, but I don't know all of the teirs either! Help me out guys! Could somebody please write down all of the teirs for me, and if you really wanna, give me the rules & illustrations, so that I can explain it properly? Amanda was really intrigued, so I thought I'd share the love... and the hate... and what the hell, I'll give her some doom too! :D

Anyway, Fargo's boring, but the company is awesome! Amanda & I are getting along just swimmingly as roomies. (FYI: For anyone who doesn't know this, Amanda's the one in my icon for this post.) We're having so much fun, and I can hardly believe how great we are working out & working together. I'm even going home with her for Spring Break. She'll be working, but she's going to get me a temp job at her church. I'll be calling people and asking them to answer surveys. *shrugs* Not great, but at least I'll be earning money while Amanda's at work.

I'll be coming home in May! I don't know where I'm going to stay yet or where I'm going to work, but I'm coming home in May! I can't wait to see you all again. I know I haven't been posting a lot lately, but I really do miss you all.

Anyway, enough of that sappy crap! I've got to get back to work... or update my facebook. One of the two. :)

Subject:Merry Christmas to ME!
Time:4:32 pm.
Mood: cheerful.
Music:Louie Louie.
So, I just got my mail for the first time in a week & found that I had gotten Christmas present! Yay! I feel loved! And I even had a "tree" for the presents to go under before I tore into them:

The presents were rad! Terry sent me some awesome pictures of himself so that I have pictures to put up next to my desk, and he also gave me these blinking light things, so that I can find some obnoxious use for them. Alice sent me this awesome artwork of a hippo. It was so stinkin' cute, I had to smile! Steph's parents (my old roommate's parents) sent me cell phone holder & Steph knitted me a really pretty scarf. Topher got me a guitar!!! Which is absolutely gorgeous & I have played me finger raw on. (Hopefully, I'll know a few songs well enough by the time I see you all again that I'll be confident enough to play for you guys.) Oh, and Terry also paid for a good guitar case that I found on ebay, but I won't have that for a few weeks.

Man! I'm so happy. I was kind of sick on Christmas day, but today I've finally hit that Christmas mood. :D Oh, and just so you guys don't go all puppy-dog eyes on me, I didn't spend Christmas alone. I was sick in the morning & I was kind of bumbed about that, because I wasn't able to go volunteering at the shelter like I had planned. But Christmas night, I went over to Topher's house & watched movies & played guitar with he and his friend, John, for a while. It was a lot of fun and really beat spending it in my empty dorm room (or playing waitress for my parents' Christmas parties like I have been for the last 18 years!).

Anyway, I hope that you all had an awesome Christmas & have fun on new years! (I want you all to have some sparkling apple cider for me at Kristi's New Year's bash.) Oh, & I hope that the post-Chistmas bash at Tissa's was awesome, too! Wish I could be there...

Happy Holidays!

Subject:Woot! BLIZZARD!!!
Time:3:26 pm.
Mood: blah.
So yeah, we've got a blizzard sitting right on top of us for the rest of the week. It's just sleeting (a lot) right now. I hope that it eventually turns into snow. I had to run to the drug store today to get medicine because I've got a nasty illness right now (I have not idea what it is), and that sleet really hurts when it's flying at you at 30+ mph. It's not that cold; the coldest it gets is about 10°F and the days average about 20°F. It's really fun, especially considering that we got an ice storm over the weekend, and it snowed the day after Thanksgiving. So there is a layer of snow on everything except for the roads and sideways, then a 1/2" to 1" of ice over EVERYTHING, and then there's sleet pellets building up on top of that. It's a very pretty winter scene, I'm really enjoying it. :)

Subject:Man! The holiday season rocks my socks!
Time:4:55 pm.
Mood: festive.
Music:Piano Man -Billy Joel.
So I went out to the grocery store today to pick up pie and nummie stuff for dinner with Topher tomorrow, and as I was checking out I heard one of the Salvation Army guys ringing his bell. I was reminded of many a fun time caroling in front of Target, and I donated all of the loose money that I had. This plunged me into the spirit of the season, and as I waited outside for my cab, I was freezing my butt off, yet I just couldn't wipe the smile off my face. I'm sure this easy slip into a spirited mood was not at all encouraged by the recent arrival of my brand new laptop with all of its toys. ;) But while were on the topic:

=D
(I guess it's kind of sad when you take baby pictures of your computer.)

Anyway, back to the holiday season... To top off my good mood (or rather encourage it), as everyone was heading out today, Amanda stopped by my room and poked her head in the doorway. I figured she was just popping in to say bye, but gives me this huge toothy grin and pulls a bouquet of flowers from behind her back. She told me that they were to make the room more festive for the holiday. I thought that was the sweetest thing. It strange how, even here away from all of my familiar friends, I feel so much more loved than I ever did living with the Chandlers.... A strange comment for this time of year, I know, but I realized that even though I don't have you guys around and most of my friends here will be away, I will have the best Thanksgiving Day that I've had my entire life! (except for the Sayne family dinners, but those never actually happened on Thanksgiving day)

Anyway, I hope that you are all with loved ones for the holiday. Good eatins' to you all!

And Kristi... I want you to remember the image of me flailing in an attempt to get sticky rice off of my foot during Thanksgiving prayer. ;D

I just spent THREE HOURS working through a calculus problem. And what really miffs me is that, an hour into it, we could have been done if my partner had just listened to me!!!! No one is listening to me! I also had a speech meeting this evening, and I really needed help with my attention catcher, but everytime I tried to speak up I got cut off or talked over. I'm so irritated right now! I just wanna smack somebody. Now I'm exhausted with more work to do than I had, and I'm too tired to do any of it. It's two in the morning, I have math at 8AM, but I can't go to bed until I finish studying for Comm!!! blargh.... people suck. XP

Subject:FENCING!!!
Time:6:12 pm.
Mood: energetic.
Okay, so here are the pics that I promised last time. Sorry I took so long.

This is the different kinds of looking rapiers that we use. You never want to face the one on the right!

(I hate this picture of me, and of course me gorget is on wrong leaving my jugular completely open! Competely defeats the purpose.)

This is one of my several fencing instructors, Topher. Topher really gets into his fencing garbs. Replace the hat with a mask and this is actally what he wears when he fences. This is "toned down" compared to how much some of the other fighters wear, especially for tournaments.

Not everyone dresses up like that, though. Like I wear all black, and many people wear the white body garbs like the guy on the right:

Unlike Olympic fencing (foil fencing) we #1: use rapiers, not foils (rapiers are much more fun and cause a lot more damage when you screw up) and #2: it's not just *poke* "you die." Only head, torso, neck, and majors artery hits (such as armpits and groin) are kill shots. Everything else, you just lose the use of as you go. If you lose a leg, you go down on your knees and fight from one position:

I've seen many people win with one arm, no legs up against an "in tact" opponent. It really quite fun. :D

We also have the heavy fighters in the SCA. This is Topher in his heavy armor:

It's really fun to watch the heavy's fight, but one of these days I want to give it a shot.

Sorry I took up so much space on your guys' dj's, but they were fun pics and I wanted to share. Hopefullly, someone got video of me fighting cast (that's with two full-length rapiers) and I'll figure out how to post that once I've got a copy. =D

Subject:Awesome fencing practice!
Time:3:58 am.
Mood: exhausted, but HAPPY!.
So fencing practice was freakin' awesome! I'm pseudo sick thanks to VF, and I didn't expect to do very well at practice today. But I got there, and the instructors, Christopher and Christopher (that's why we call them Chris and Topher), were as excited about fighting as I was, but all of the other students were being lazy, so I got lots of attention, which motivated me to push myself really hard. After like 15 minutes of solid dueling with Topher, he called a break and took me aside for feedback. He says that I'm getting really good. He says my point accuracy is probably better than his!!! =O And I pretty sure that he was neither exaggerating nor boosting my ego. After telling me what I did well, what I need to work on, and when he caught me off guard, he looks at me. Then he says, "Go steal another rapier from someone, I want to teach you something new." So I went and stole a rapier from one of the lazy ones and turned around to face Topher, who was also carrying a second rapier. I stopped and looked him... "We're going to try cast," he says. For any of you not familiar with fencing lingo, "cast" is fighting with two full-length rapiers, one in each hand. I was kind of freaked out at first, and because I had already been fighting off and on for an hour and a half, I was really tired, so I had a really hard time trying to practice a good technique, but OMG it was awesome! I can't wait to try it when I'm at full strength. And to make the night even more awesome, after over two... maybe two and a half hours of fighting, Chris and Topher wanted to keep fighting, so since I couldn't handle both the big rapiers anymore, they put a rapier in one of my hands and a 2ft-long stick in the other. This got real interesting... you use the stick to move their sword out of the way, and take shots with the rapier. I loved it! I think that's my favorite form of fighting thus far, and I'm really excited to get more into it! The only problem with it is that you leave yourself open to finger wounds with your hands grasping this stick. After getting my fingers pinched between my stick and the Edge of Tophers blade, I was painfully but fondly reminded of "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" when Robin and Little John were fighting on the bridge. :D

Anyway, I finally got pictures, but I've got a lot of work to do, so I'll post them tomorrow. 'Night all!

Subject:Kevlar coated dear...
Time:11:09 pm.
Mood: determined to be happy *grr*.
Just got back from a rigorous, yet sort of disappointing game of Munchkin. Did you guys know that in Blender Munchkin there is a card that makes it so that everyone has to go to level 11 instead of level 10. That card is really a bitch!

Anyway, I will be fully equipped with a loaded laptop, a scanner, a webcam, a tablet, and a very recent version of Photoshop, hopefully, by Thanksgiving. Yay, me! ... actually, "YAY, TERRY! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!" It's nice though... having a "dad" again... (not just because of the financial help and the fact that he spoils me rotten :D)

I hope that you all have plans to be with people on Thanksgiving (if not, I will motion to collect fund and ship you to either a place you'd like to be or here, with me. XD I'm really happy because Topher and I are going to be spending Thanksgiving together since, he's sort of in the same situation that I'm in and his girlfriend will be in Bismark for the holidays. We're going to pool our collective cooking experience (I make a mean PBJ sandwich) and try to make some look warm, not overly chared, nummies for dinner. And we're also going to hang out and he's going to teach me some "magic" card tricks. It should be loads of fun! :D I would love to be with any of you for the holidays, but this is the next best thing and Topher will need some buddy-lovin' too.

I'm trying very hard to think happy right now. There are a lot of things that I could be angry/upset/depressed about, but I just don't want to be. I'm very much for fluffy puppies and warm kittens at the moment. Maybe I should visit the shelter? ...

Subject:Okay. That's it! I'm grounded!
Time:1:40 pm.
Mood: flustered.
Music:American Pie (curse you, Jess!).
After a week of chaos (as usual) and partial procrastination, I found myself cramming (yet again) for my geo and pysc exams today. And then stupid, sweet, caring Amanda comes in last night and guilt trips me into going to be. I over slept this morning, and again, with impecable timing, barely finished my psyc exam in time to run over to my geology exam. I'm certain that I bombed both. Therefore, I'm grounded! Of coarse, I decide this just when my schedule lightens up for the next couple of week, which means I won't stick to it and continue to hunt down people to chat with and try to talk Amanda and Topher into hanging out with me. I have no will power. I suck. This is why I'll never make it through vet school if I decide to go that way. XO
